I disagree that it should be closed. Shouldn't it stay as acknowledged until it is fixed? Closing it gives the impression that it has been fixed - taking it off the radar of those who follow this site.

This is not fixed. Closing it just to improve city statistics on the site is wrong. This is not fixed. It needs to be fixed and should stay open until it is. Otherwise this problem will be forgotten until I or bother concerned citizen has to come back onto this site, write up the issue, locate it on a map, and add a photograph. That is an undue burden. Fix this!

My experience with this system proves otherwise. If you close it, and it doesn't get fixed - which has been the case with one other thing I reported a while ago, then I will have to come onto the system and report the issue again, uploading a picture and writing a description. Wouldn't it make more sense, and make it easier for your customer, to leave it open here until it is indeed fixed? That would save me a lot of time and frustration as was the case with the other item I reported (that, by the way, months later, still is not fixed!!!).
