I was actually calling about the massive amount of vines that have enveloped the pole all the way to the top and extending out along the wires. The light WAS out, but that was not my concern. A truck was sent out and the light was replaced...so, yes, the light is fixed, but the vine situation continues to spread. I'm glad to know Dominion Power does not consider it an issue. Yes, it was during the day. This is along my meals on wheels route.

How did you know it wasn't working during the day when it shouldn't have been on?

I am not sure what you are asking. It is a light, it was not on.

But it's not supposed to be on during the day - it's a streetlight. You said it wasn't on at lunch time. The person who originally posted this reported it as out during the night and Dominion Power fixed it. Have you seen it out at night?

I would think that any seeing person could tell if the light is not on at night. During the day, you would have to look up at it because it would not be as easy to see if it is working during the day. It's like turning your porch light on at night and everyone passing by can see it on. Try this in the day time and passer bys would have to stop and look to see the light on. The light bulb is harder to see in the day but if you look for it you can see if it's off or on.

It is now supposed to be on during the day. The streetlights have sensors that turn them on at night and off during the daylight hours. It should not be on during the day. If it was on during the day, Dominion Power would need to fix the sensor.

The sensor must still be broken. The light was out again yesterday when I was on my route.

I'll pass your concerns on to Dominion Virginia Power. There was a typo in my post above, it is should say it is "not" supposed to be on during the day in the first sentence. I apologize for the error.

Hey everyone! I'm the one who posted the original comment on the light. It is fixed and the light is working. It comes on at dusk and goes off at dawn. I've been trying to "close" the issue but must be doing something wrong. My biggest concern with the light was not the fact that the light was out, but that the vines were so invasive. The power company obviously did not see that as a concern. Si it's all good. Really.

The main issue facing the public works crews in our local citys is budget cuts. In one city there are now only three parks workers doing the entire city where two years ago we had 75 workers on staff. This is a growing trend due to the higher standard that the citizens are holding workers to. Public works are now doing landscaping, storm reponse, trash pick up, and so many other things. The less effective departments are being downgraded to simple tasks such as litter control and filling holes with dirt. I do not work for the city and have always used my only screen name. How do I know this? I attend public meetings, I poll the citizens at various public venues, and I make alot of this up in my mind. Please remember to thank your public works crews

I understand the current budget issues, but we still need to find the funding for core services.
