Q. Additional information
A. I came out of Walmart and started my car at 6:28 PM when I noticed this dog in the car next to me ( white Hyundai Elantra license plate 5LBZ681) with no water and the windows only cracked an inch. While the car was in the shade it was still 84° outside and the dog was panting heavily with a stressed "grin". After I called animal control, the owner came out at 7:14 PM which was 46 minutes plus however long the dog had been in there before I noticed it. I told the owner that cars are like ovens on hot days and she said it's not even that hot and asked me if I wanted to get in. I asked her if she had read the research about how quickly cars heat up even in the shade and then she drove away as she continued to tell me it's not hot. I called animal control back to let them know the owner had come out so they didn't need to come out themselves.
