Now that's an idea. Nothing else is working. Not sure what city leaders are doing besides ignoring the issues. None of them must live near an encampment. Encampments are unsafe, unhealthy and unsanitary to everyone in the community. Allowing them to do as they please is not the answer. CAL TRANS and PW knows the homeless are a constant issue so not sure why they avoid it, i have some thoughts tho.

This is a huge problem with no easy solution which is probably why CalTrans is bucking it to homeless support agencies which are few and likely overwhelmed with a problem that appears to be getting worse.

This will be a on going problem.. till city hall and caltrans decide how they are going to decide handle it. City Hall, Public Works, OPD says its a caltran problem.. Caltran says it can only clean up, they will not fix the fence or put up no trespassing signs, and say police are suppose to keep it free from trespassers and homeless.

Does Oakland do anything or responsible for fixing issues? No one seems to have a solution to anything. Everything seems to be a cat and mouse game.

I am happy to be part of any effort to remedy this problem. I too constantly submit issues here and submit Cal Trans requests. In my Cal Trans requests, I have asked about putting up cyclone barbed fencing, or another type that will permanently keep people out of there. I will sign a petition, be part of a law suit. Whatever, it takes.

Oakland should be sued. They are allowing the homeless to run the city. People need a reality check. The homeless are above the law and ruining this city. Allowing them to do whatever they want, where they want is unacceptable. It's out of control.

Leave it open.. as soon as the City acts on this you can close it. I as might go homeless, they are currently patching into the city's power grid using a two block extension cable. Rain and electricity don't mix. I have multiple tickets open with the city of Oakland, OPD, CHP and Caltran - seems like none of them give a @#$%.

Ridiculous. Public works keep this issue open until it is completely resolved. Why you don't want to deal with the homeless is beyond me. You might want to get your hazmat suits on, cause it has to be cesspool doubled by now.

I can't see this administration doing anything. They don't want to step on any toes, so it's probably going to keep on until Libby and her crew got voted out or the city is sued for allowing dangerous encampments, unsanitary conditions to all, illegal activities. Other cities do something, Oakland can't seem to get it's head out of the dirt.

Almost two years - 8.29.2015 - area has yet to fully addressed. Caltran finally cleanup the encampment last month. But City of Oakland still allows the encampment to continue on the sidewalk .. blocking it and having them throw there trash and feces over the fence, Urine on the sidewalk next to a neighborhood full of tax paying adults and children. I have flies all over the place. I placed a disposable fly trap on my back patio - it was filled within two days. OAKLAND HEAR ME - REMOVE ENCAMPMENT!!!! QUIT MAKING FU##ing EXCUSES - You tax us and we pay your Salary!!!

The Homeless encampment up and still there - I don't understand the cost to the tax payers to clean up the encampment 2 twice a month would be saved if you just enforce the dam "NO TRESPASSING". This is a waste of both tax payers money and the frustration of the people that live around this encampment. I just had my place fumigated due to the fly's all over the place due to the smell of rotting feces and urine. I want to know where to send the billing. Also starting to think it just better to sue Caltran and City of Oakland.

Buzz, to sue Oakland might be the only way to get their attention. I would like to see how much it's actually costing to clean up the homeless encampments, it can't be cheap. The rest of us should not have to put up with an unhealthy environment just because the city has no solutions and are unwilling to do anything about it. The city taking no action might be a reason to sue, because they r allowing illegal activities and not enforcing the law.

Why you closing it? are you kidding me.. you keep trying to close this ticket when the problem just gets worse, since you people don't understand the basic understanding of the problem - HOMELESS are living on the sidewalk, they do not have the understanding of ether keeping the area clean and where they use the bathroom. LET ME TELL YOU - THEY USE THE SIDEWALK FOR BOTH. Tax payers have to use the street as a sidewalk. Have you walked down 7th street in the morning and at night? Its a main in and out from the city.
