Everyone who's property abuts to Emmett O'Brien, whether they reside on Webster Dr or Beverly Dr, was treated to daylight, after the sun went down last night. That is because, they installed new street laps to light up the school property. That's great! However, they shine directly into everyone bedroom windows, past their property line. Looking back, I think we all would have dealt with overgrown vegetation, that was along the fence. Potentially, blocking those bright lights. We invite the city officials, to take ride through this neighborhood at night and see for themselves what the issue is. Perhaps, even walk a few back yards and see just how bright they really are. Someone needs to address the school or even the state officials, that either trees need to be replanted, dim those lights, put them on a timer or only on when during a school function. As it sits now, is not acceptable.

I received an email on this last night and have responded to the resident. I have also forwarded this concern to the State project office this morning, and received the following reply:
"Regarding the site lights, the site lights have been activated in order to conduct night lighting tests with the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Testing of various life safety systems has been going on over the past 2-3 weeks. The school will be setting the lights to switch on and off at preset times soon after the testing is complete".
I'm not sure we are all talking about the same lights so communications and monitoring by neighbors will continue until we are sure the problem is addressed. There have been many legitimate concerns with the construction at EOB vs. the quality of life of the adjacent properties and I don't envy anyone who has had to tolerate the conditions there during construction. I am sure most people are past the point of patience; I would be. I have contacted State Representative Linda Gentile in regards to EOB because the folks in Hartford associated with this project may be more inclined to act on neighbor's concerns if they were coming from a state official rather than myself and Mayor Cassetti. Those involved in running this project had previously offered that they could be contacted directly so please don't hesitate to pile on and express your concerns directly.

FYI- Students will be back in their new shops this school year and attending general education classes in the portable classrooms behind the school. The front of the school is scheduled to be completed by the start of the next school year. Some illustrations can be found on the City of Ansonia's website, under RESOURCES.

The state has no reason not to follow this law that every other commercial or residential property must comply with.

Bad enough the lights shine in our windows until a few days ago when they FINALLY put plastic up to dim them but the outrages noise of trucks etc. from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. is making me nuts. I thought you weren't suppose to do such noisy stuff till after 7 a.m.? I am close enough that many times my house has shaken and I expect stuff to fall off the walls.
I've listened to this for 2 years now and last year even on sundays! Can't even open windows as all you get is dirt blowing in. This project is turning into a nightmare and I seriously don't think it looks like the nice EO of years ago. My patience has gotten mighty thin!!! Now the workers are even parking all over our street and you have to be VERY careful trying to get out of your driveway.
