Deskripsyon
Mr. Attubato, I work at the MBTA Safety Department. One project I’m working on is to remove railroad protections at railroad crossings no longer being used, thereby reducing rear end collisions of buses, school buses and Haz Mat trucks required to stop at these inactive railroad tracks.
At 335 Central Street there is an old Crossbuck that is left over from a rail bed that traversed the street. State law requires buses to stop when these protections are seen. Although drivers who use this road regularly most likely don’t stop, the new or incidental driver may brake when the sign is spotted causing a rear end collision.
Is it possible to have sign removed so as not have these commercial vehicles required to stop and therefore reduce possible rear end collisions? Any help you could provide would be great.

I am aware of the SeeClickFix you sent me. I have called the historic committee chairman to see if it is
all right to have this sign and pole taken down. I have not heard back from him.
The reason is that the last time I took a sign and pole down at the railroad on Eustis St. I was told to put it back because it was historical. As soon as I hear from the historical committee I will contact you.
Thank you and have a nice day.

Thanks for the update. I would be happy to explain our position and state law to the Historical commission if you think this would be helpful.
We would only be interested in the sign coming down. The pole is up to you if you wanted to use it for other signage.

Have you heard back from the Historical Commission yet?
Thanks, Tim Davis

There is a hazard at the area where the J&M store is located. heavily traveled street.
Please remove the "CrossBuck" to prevent further traffic issues.
Thanks!

I agree with the removal of this sign, as I have witnessed buses stoping for these signs and once almost got rear ended because of it.
Thank you,
