I totally agree. The sidewalk should have been a requirement when the playground was built all those years ago. Now we have a few more progressive officials in City Hall so this would be a good time to ask for the neighborhood to be linked to the Geyser Park and school. Go to the city council meeting and "speak out" at the beginning of the meeting.
If many neighbors attended city council meetings and talked about sidewalks and trail construction along Geyser Road, you would get your wish. You need to apply pressure. You need to vote for candidates that help with this issue. Write letters, send emails, make phone calls.
SIDEWALK STARTED AS REQUIRED BY BEAVERPOND DEVLOPMENT NOW THE CITY SHOULD FINISH IT TO HATHORN. THE TWO HOMES LEFT ARE IN THE CITY . IF THIS WAS THE EASTSIDE (LIKE THE CORNER OF YORK AVE AND CIRCULAR ST ) THE CITY WOULD DO IT. THE SOUTHWEST IS PART OF THE CITY.....
The new BPV sidewalk and protective dune fencing are a great addition to the city's sw neighborhood. The city needs to get this project completed to insure safety for its residents. Call City Hall, email the city council and write letters to the editor. John is correct. The sidewalk must be complete but "complete" means connected from the Tiffany sidewalk to Casino Drive. Bits and pieces of sidewalk are not acceptable and not safe.
Still not completed. If it had been Marion Place or York ave etc on the east side it would have been completed without all the effort (as Flag suggested ). Maybe a child being hit by a car riding their bike to the new development from Hathorn to new side walk in front of the new Beaver pond development will get the side walk finished in a couple of years.
There is "good news" to report regarding sidewalks along Geyser Road. Come to the next meeting of the Southwest Neighborhood Association on Tuesday, March 12 at 7pm. Location is Saratoga Eagle community room on Duplainville Road in the Grande Industrial Park. Geyser Trail Committee Chairman and County Supervisor Matt Veitch will update neighbors about the project and answer your questions.
The sidewalk you see being built will provide an important link from Tiffany Dr. to Casino Drive. The Safe Routes to Schools Grant may include a crosswalk light to reach the school. If a proposed baseball stadium becomes reality, the planned multi-use trail on the school / rec field side of Geyser Road will become even more important. Imagine ridng your bike or waking to a ball game. Ask City Council to build the Geyser Trail. .
