I was slammed by a huge SUV, causing the back door of my Rav4to have to be replaced. I'm not doing anything but waiting to merge, seriously. So NO this is not fixed!!

BTW, I talked with a person from VDOT about this last year. Her response, "It's difficult to get the easements to fix this correctly." So doing nothing is the logical solution? We need a light there. The other side of the road ain't no picnic either.

Still bad, but there's an electronic sign on Walter Reed Drive now that says, "High accident area, use caution." Don't know if it's helping.

Sign mentioned above was removed. Same situation. There are plenty options to make this better. Someone should talk to me. Reduce the speed limit to 30, close the right lane to Wash. Blvd traffic so that it is dedicated to the 50 and Walter Reed merge traffic. Put a Dangerous Intersection sign on the ramp from Rt. 50, etc.. Think outside the box please.

I agree this intersection needs a fix. Traffic from 50 to Wash Blvd does NOT merge or slow what so ever. Accidents are seen weekly. Traffic is often much faster than 45 mph.

What needs to happen is to close the exit so only vehicles coming from US 50 or that ugly intersection to the south (not sure what exact street names) can only enter Washington Blvd. southbound. The major problem is that those wanting to exit here to get to 2nd St. S or the relocated Arlington Human Resources Dept. are slowing right in front of those accelerating and looking for an opening in the traffic behind them. If drivers only need to be concerned with entering that should smooth the flow and reduce the hazards. Perhaps separate and extend the acceleration lanes for each entrance.

So how do people exit? Open a new exit ramp 1,500 feet to the south. This would require acquisition half of the parking lot at the Naval Support Facility. The ramp connects with S. Courthouse Rd. where drivers can go north to connect with Ft. Myer's Hatfield Gate or the Arlington Office Building.

Looks like VDOT put a lot of "NO MERGE" signs on the exit ramp from Rt. 50. Doesn't make a difference. Cars still speed, still dangerous. What we need is a light or something.

Still a problem. Saw another accident yesterday. Despite the signs, motorists still treat the exit from Rt. 50 as an exit ramp and accelerate rather than slow down.

Saw an accident last week. Lots of damage. I'm sure there were more.

No improvement. Saw a wreck yesterday. We've been talking about this in the neighborhood and agree that the speed limit on this part of the road should be 25 MPH, at least in the right lane. A creative solution like the one on Lorcum Lane would be great here.
