Description
Crossing Lake Ave (Rt. 29) by East Side Rec. while in the crosswalk is dangerous. Vehicles rarely stop as they are required by law.
The crosswalk signs and flashing lights should include signs stating the law in words and be posted in the center of the road. The city does a poor job reminding drivers of this law. During heavy traffic pedestrians can wait a long time for traffic to stop in both directions.
What will it take someone getting hit and either injured or killed. I cross with children and vehicles don't stop. I have watched children waiting and vehicles don't stop.

There are 3 schools on Lake Avenue PLUS a Park and Recreation Center. Please keep everyone safe by honoring the speed limit, which is 30 miles per hour--and the (3) school zone speed limits, which is 15 miles per hour.
Could we possibly employ a patrol car along Lake Avenue during school drop off and pick up times to ensure the safety of everyone????
Thank You.

Our elected leaders need to step-up here. A community of this size SHOULD be family friendly enough that children and adults who choose to walk can do so safely without being perceived as a nuisance for those who choose to drive.
Our narrow streets are NOT designed like the interstate. Drivers need to allow enough travel time to their destinations to allow for pedestrians, traffic, and school zones.
Again, more patrols will deter speeding. How difficult is that?
I live here, I drive here, and I WALK here. Let's keep it safe!!
Thank you.
