The pole is also beginning to lean more, this isn’t safe. The bees have the potential to attack some of the many children who live on this block and pass by. Some people are allergic to bees. This is an infestation and needs to be handled. If national grid and verizon refuse to deal with it then it becomes the city’s responsibility because the welfare of its citizens are the city’s responsibility. Do something why does this have to be a fight every single year?

…and every year I say the same thing. These bees are wood bees. They won’t bother you unless you really,really physically try to harm them. …and you’ll have to work at it.

The only one harmed is that pole.

I come face to face with them in my yard. At arms reach. I’ll walk right at them. They move out of the way.

Those living on the odd # side of Partridge between Kent and Bradford should be more concerned with the rats running from under porch to porch.

Great that they’re friendly toward you, you’re not the one getting stung or harassed by them so this doesn’t concern you.

By the way, the rat problem was reported (by me) and dealt with I haven’t seen anymore in a long while. The neighbors responsible for the infestation have been kicked out a long time ago.

They’ll defend themselves but it has to be a dire situation.

This should be reported to Verizon or National Grid. DGS does not own the utility poles in the City of Albany.

Obviously you did not read the response from both Verizon and Nat Grid, both said pole is not theirs. You guys took care of it last year and you surely should this year and asap!

Btw,the female wood bees stay close to their eggs. Rarely will you see them or get stung and they will only do so if the nest is disturbed or provoked.

The male wood bees do NOT have a stinger. They may seem aggressive but they cannot sting. So go make friends with Mr Woodbee. He can’t harm you.

Nope. I was attacked by a hive of the stinging kind in high school and I cannot abuse them to this day. Just the sounds sends me into traffic if there is nowhere else to go lol.

Either way, allergic or not, stinging kind or not, they’re messing with the structural integrity of the pole they’re drilling holes into, putting holes into our houses, flying in our faces, and overall making this block a living hell for the people who live nearby with phobias, allergies, houses that they put holes into, etc. I really don’t care what your reasoning is for wanting them to stick around.
