This forum is not an official city conduit. Unless there was an imminent danger presented, it is likely that the only way an investigation would start would be by direct complaint. Not an anonymous posting. lets face it, you can drive down any street in Ansonia and find some sort of degradation to structures and properties. If the city was to initiate complaints by patrolling or anonymous persons posting on line, they would have to write everyone up. There would be literally be thousands of complaints, the public at large would be outraged, and not much would truly get accomplished. I believe the intent of the new law is to weed out the worst offenders, thus others with less dire situations would take note and initiate remediation without the city having to get involved. I don't think any of us want a "police state". Ansonia residents are PAYING the salary of an anti-blight officers and the "the only way this can be addressed is to contact the Anti-Blight Officer". He has no ability to tour the city, SEE blight with his own two eyes and report back to the Mayor? The residents have to do his job for him?

It is also his job to monitor public forums such as this (even if the city prefers this site didn't exist, it's life and other news sites direct people here so get over it.) and see if something like this is mentioned so he can look into it.

If Mr. Blackwell is unable to do those two simple thing, he needs to refund his salary to Ansonia and be replaced. The blight officer is not paid to sit near a phone and wait for it to ring.

If ANYONE doesn't think that home is not blight, than the blight ordinance needs to be revised!
