Description
A concern about outdoor air quality which I believe is currently referred to as the Westside smoke odor.
I recently moved to Farmer's Branch and since then it seems there has been an odd outdoor odor that occurs twice a day. I first encountered the odor in November. I am part of the neighborhood's open chat which frequently discusses this exact issue on the weekly basis.
From a simple google search it seems there is not very much information provided. It appears that city leaders had a meeting about this odor issue in December however with no additional insight source nor solution. Further, the Farmer's Branch website does have a website (https://www.farmersbranchtx.gov/572/Environmental-Health) that appears to address the odor issue however only provides a "odor log" and a "written statement form".
From a concerned citizen, I would deduce that if the etiology of the odor is not currently known the potential health effects definitely cannot be prognosticated.
Overall is there any further investigation of this issue and/or potential solutions?

The City has received a report from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regarding their investigation into the odor complaints filed by the City and residents of Farmers Branch against Soil Building Systems located on Walnut Hill in Dallas, Texas. Soil Building Systems has a permit with TCEQ, so they are the regulatory agency as well as the City of Dallas for this facility. The report can be found on the Environmental Health webpage.
