We need actual leadership. Vote for competency!

We certainly understand & appreciate the issue raised. CDTA is responsible for the maintance of the trash inside and around the bus station. They have been notified of this issue and will send someone out to clean station.

Everyone always yelling about the leadership. Listen, I know the complaints are valid, but you do know our mayor is not running for reelection, right? Also, what has this community actually done to help? I know it shouldn't be on us to pick up trash, and in a perfect world people wouldn't litter. But I regularly circle my block with a garbage bag and clean, because I don't want to look at the trash either, and sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands.

Guess what, I do the same thing. My family regularly cleans up the trash on our entire block. The issue with leadership extends to all areas of local government, not just the mayor. The machine in Albany is trying anoint successors to these positions with the same tired step in line policies. We need better performance, our city is dying without it.

Our leaders have a mentalitý that fines and enforcement processes are racist and fines do more harm than good. When people aren’t held responsible for bad behavior, there is no incentive to follow rules. This is a very simple concept. there are a lot of bad people who take advantage of this loophole at the expense of everyone else. Our current leadership (mayor and council level) cater to this group of bad actors.

Albany needs completely new leadership with a FRESH vision for the future. If Dorcey wins the mayor seat, it will just be sheehan 2.0 and quality of life will continue to deteriorate. We need someone who can put Albany FIRST and not intertwine national culture war BS into the city’s business.

SaveAlbany gets it. If you implement national politics at a local level you just stigmatize the urban areas. It isn’t about D vs. R in albany, it’s just about effective policies and leadership. We need leaders unlike the “community relations coordinator” who just pass the buck to another agency and make empty promises. So many questions for that kind of nonsense: 1. Are you just noticing now that the city’s bus stations look like the Bronx in 1970? Have previous cleanings been done… at all? 2. Have you cited CDTA for failing to keep up its obligations to clean the bus stops? 3. Have you actually ticketed anyone for littering in the first place? 4. Do you really expect well adjusted, employed, contributing members of society to use let alone enjoy using these bus stations in this condition? 5. Is the nastiness egalitarian enough? Are we all equally enduring the squalor? Results matter, not “it’s not my job”. That’s leadership.

According to city code (§313-47), property owners are responsible for keeping their properties maintained with regards to lawn and litter. DGS staff will inspect the property for any violations. If violations are found, the property owner will be notified and given ten business days to rectify any violations. After ten business days, DGS will re-inspect the property for compliance. If the property is still in violation, DGS will schedule a cleanup of the property and the owner will be billed. Please note that due to the high volume, these requests may take up to two weeks or more for DGS to clean.
