Description
The whole area at the stop sign outside our home is very badly affected by several large ruts and potholes. most of the road is damaged and very uneven. We have no sidewalk. My mother in law, who lives with us is 92, cannot safely use her walker in this area, and we are concerned that it may tip over, or she may trip because the road is so uneven. It also looks as if mud comes up from the base of the road after a rain. I believe that this road has not been repaved EVER in the 50 years that our neighbourhood has existed. In early 2000's the rest of the neighbourhood was repaved, but the county was doing work on the areas going over the creek on Liberty Lane, and they said they would come back and reave, but they never did. Thank you

Thank you for your resurfacing request for the Independence Square Subdivision. As part of the 2022 SPLOST, Cobb DOT conducted a full pavement inspection of the entire County to determine the pavement condition index of each roadway and subdivision. With these inspection results, we are proceeding with a process that ranks the roadways and helps us bundle contracts for each year of this SPLOST (2022-2027).
Overall, the streets within Independence Square are in somewhat better condition than the roadways we are currently resurfacing. Unfortunately, with the number of streets with lower pavement ratings and the resurfacing budget in the 2022 SPLOST (ending in 2027), Independence Square is currently programmed to be resurfaced during the fiscal year 2026 or 2027 (pending on priority, funding and scheduling).
We continue to monitor the condition of pavement throughout the County. I'm forwarding this request over to our road maintenance division for the pothole and/or asphalt repair issue. If you have any questions, please contact us at (770) 528-1600. You can also enter pothole/asphalt repair requests directly in our Work Order request system https://seeclickfix.com/cobb-county – which is also available as an app for your phone.
Also, below is a link that explains our selection and resurfacing progress and it also have maps with our 2023 resurfacing contract road list.
