Description
Hi I had reported and called the MUA about an issue in which the manhole nearest to the 920 Summit Avenue building is quite loose and makes a very loud clanging noise every time a car drives over it. The last time I called it was fixed immediately but it seemed to have loosened over time. I was wondering if it could be tightened down to avoid the noise especially for night time. Thank you so much

Good morning,
Both of these manhole covers were not fixed properly. They removed some material around the cover and backfilled it with tar as much as they could to make it better but no matter what they did the manhole covers sit lower than the road and continue to be a safety/noise concern. Every time a vehicle goes over the pipe it shakes the homes nearest the manhole covers and you can hear the acoustics of the piping. I also think with all the pounding of the tar around and on the manhole cover area they damaged my neighbors piping which is being repaired today. These streets are old but something needs to be done about the utilities and road here on summit avenue as its a safety concern.
