Description

This intersection is extremely dangerous for pedestrians. The green light for cars initiates at the same time as the crosswalk. The cross walks should initiate first and give pedestrians time to cross without competing with drivers turning both east and west on N. San Pedro from Civic Center drive. I live off of San Pablo Ave. and cross with great caution, but in the past three years I’ve almost been hit 3-4 times. For example, today, a man driving south on Civic Center Dr. and turning west onto N. San Pedro (Probably leaving the Sunday Farmers Market), almost hit me while I was in the crosswalk (I had the crosswalk light and had waited until it seemed safe). I had already waited to cross as a car one-two minutes before him had instantly gone right on green without checking the crosswalk/not seeing me; right now, I’m pregnant and slow. I’ve also almost been hit on the eastern side of the same intersection.
