The ratio of traffic on Airport blvd compared to 12th seems to mirror the appropriate current timing of this light. It's never easy crossing such a busy road like Airport - there isn't much you can do without causing worse problems on Airport.

Thank you for replying but there's no doubt that the traffic issues in the growing metropolis of Austin is dire. The lights going north & south anywhere on the Ben White exits but especially @ south 1st really need sensors & not timers. San Antonio, Dallas & Houston all have it up on Austin with traffic flow & sensors are the answers. Look, I've lived here 25 years & this is no longer that same city so it's vital that the powers to be get on fixing this & look to other big/bigger cities in our great state for the resolution. I work @ 13th & West & the light on 15th & west is the same as when I moved here 25 years ago, my boss has sent in a letter requesting a turn signal years ago but no progress (David Botsford pays 15,000 a year in taxes). I feel very disappointed in our city council & feel we need more Texans representing but whats a girl to do. Thanks for responding.

I have the very same issue in my neighborhood, at Burnet Road and 49th Street...It's really frustrating and time-taxing....could easily waste 8-10 minutes of your time for just sitting at that one light.

There are so many nonsensical stop light timing issues on Ben White Blvd (also throughout the city, but I personally deal with these especially on a regular basis) that result in countless periods of NO ONE driving through an intersection because the light is green for a lane with zero traffic. Meanwhile, cars line up in other lanes waiting for their turn at a green light which is often too short for the amount of cars backed up. It seems like sensors are definitely the answer since traffic fluctuates so much throughout the day - even four-way stop signs would be a huge improvement over the timed stop lights. Another infuriating intersection is Lamar Blvd at Ben White around the Sprouts shopping center. Driving in Austin has led me to become constantly impatient, and on edge the second a light turns green and the driver in front of me doesn't punch the gas to ensure as many of us get through that light as possible. It's completely unnecessary.
