Description

Cars are comming down Newkirk Ave. speeding, playing very loud music at all hours of the day and night and into the early mornings hours and cars are not stopping at the corners of Newkirk Ave and Maple St. They also come from Maple St. and not stop to go up Newkrik Ave.
I've seen kids come down Newkirk Ave on their bike's and one of these days someone is going to get killed. I've already had in the past and just last year, cars crashed into my gate and now into my fence. I've already asked to have the guardrail I asked to have installed, to have it extended around the corner. I was told that this will be done. I am also making videos of these problems to show if needed. Five DVD videos have been given to the police to look at, and each contains about 40 scenes.
Thank You.

Well, guess I will have to have my Aldermen, come down an see what is going on here. One night this year, police and undercover NARC's stopped a car for drugs and took the person to jail. So they know what type of people are coming done this street. The night they did this, no one came down this street for 6 hours. Yes, this is on video. A car started to come down this street when this action happened an it turned around and went back up the street instead of taking the side street at the top of the hill. Why, probably because it had drugs also.

Well, nothing has changed, this is still happening. I think one way to let people know what the rules are in Kingston, is to increase the fines. I think about five dollars might do the trick. This way it will be printed in the Kingston Daily Freeman. In fact I think a full print of all the rules for Kingston should be put in the newspaper every couple of years. In this way most of the people will get notice's of what the rules and fines are for the city. I also think once I a while, the police should put a road block up and see what the cars have for correct inspection and registration stickers on this street and maybe have a little sniff of what the cars smell like inside. I've had cars stop here and people go up to the Rondout Plaza and get drugs from cars parked there then walk back down to Maple street.

I been told that a Bar is going to open up on the corner of Newkirk Ave and Delaware Ave. This is not going to help this situation and in fact probably make it worse.

Cars are still coming down and have not stopped at the stop signs and still playing loud music and speeding.

Oct. 2017
Cars are still coming down but now there are some that Play Loud Music because there drug dealers have been arrested and now there not stopping at the stop sign.
Almost had a kid coming down on a bike and was almost hit by a car. Kids don't stop on bikes at the stop sign either. Might need to have a camera set up by the police department or city so these people can be given tickets by observation on camera because if anyone of these people see a car behind them they obey the law just in case it might be a police car, especially at night. This camera will bring a few extra $$ to the city to have it used for other things.

Cars are still doing the same thing. I also think a "Street Closed During Snow" should be done on Newkirk Ave, because of this problem an the speed reduced to 15 MPH.
