I called this in to Police non emergency number when it happened, but reporting it here as well.

During my shift as a crossing guard this afternoon at Salem & Ferry Sts. the traffic light pole was knocked over. Apparently by a group of MHS students playing around. I'm sure it was an accident and not malicious.

To me it appears that the extreme cold made the base brittle, and it failed when one of the students bumped (or was pushed) into it.

The pole is entirely on the sidewalk, but causing people to either step over it or walk around it to use the crosswalk.
