I noticed that this is still a problem (as of 04/04). It's really pointless to have this synchonized to stop backed up traffic twice within 100 yards. Why not let it all clear through. Many times there are no cars even waiting on the entrance streets coming on to Harding Rd. Please have someone deal with this. Thanks!!

The timings can be adjusted, but we need to know what time of day these problems are occurring. Thanks for filling us in! I'll try to call. I just want to clarify that I notice this problem mostly in the mornings and mid-day. I've driven it recently in the afternoon (heading eastbound on Harding Rd.) and the signals stayed green long enough to clear traffic through. However, I've also noticed the problem in the evenings after rush hour. I remember a couple of times there were more than a dozen cars waiting a combined three minutes with no other traffic around just to get thru these two lights. If the OHRd light is triggered by side street traffic, then that's understandable. But that doesn't seem to be the case here.

This should be easy enough and very routine to fix the signal timing. The signals are close enough together to see the light changes, so a technician can watch the traffic flow anytime during a normal day and/or after hours and make adjustments to allow traffic to flow through both lights.

Yep. I went through this, yet, again both Thursday and Friday late morning (10:00) and mid-afternoon (3:00). There is a ridiculous accumulation of traffic at the Post Rd. light backing up almost to the Harding Pl. light going eastbound just about every time. Getting really old. Makes no sense (unless it facilitates westbound evening traffic congestion).

Proximity of intersections and time of day when a problem is occurring are both important factors in adjusting signal programming. Signals are pre-set to work differently according to time of day, peak traffic times, etc. and side streets (like Post Road, Harding Pl and Page Rd) typically have less green times than the more heavily traveled route (Harding Road) carrying thru traffic, as opposed to local traffic. Adjusting traffic signals is not complicated, but having a signal technician sit at one of more than 800 signalized locations for a full day is not an efficient use of Metro resources. Late morning and 3:00 are not considered peak traffic hours, so it is helpful to know this problem is happening then. We will keep trying to address your concerns.

I give up... now the traffic signal at the intersection of Harding Road/Post Road-Old Harding is changing without any cross traffic from Post Road-Old Harding Road. This is happening at all hours of the day/night. I guess someone more important than I owns the gas station at that intersection.

Also, we discovered that someone doing nearby construction damaged detector loops in the pavement. I re-iterate the need for you to call Public Works so a rep can connect you with the Traffic Division. 862-8750.
