Description
After turning off on exit 186 going north on I-95, there are four traffic lights for three lanes. Many people believe that the middle can go straight or turn right, so whoever tries to turn right in the middle lane is stuck waiting for the person going straight. When the person in the middle lane does try to go straight, they cut others off, causing a driving hazard. There desperately needs to be only three lights at this intersection.

I don't know why this keeps getting reported when there is no problem. There are two lights for redundancy, just as there are two lights for the middle lane on Central Street with the intersection with Hammond Street.
There are not one, not two, but THREE overhead sets of signs that make it very clear that the left lane is for going straight, the middle lane is for turning right, and the right lane is for turning right.
The number of lights (which is correct in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) isn't the problem. The problem is drivers not paying attention to the THREE sets of signs they encounter.

You might get it, but nobody else does.....therefore, it IS a problem. Why must you continue to deny that there is a problem?

Judging by the volume of traffic that goes through that intersection compared to how few drivers get "confused" by not paying attention to THREE sets of signs that spell out which lane goes where, most people do get it.
You're never going to have 100 percent of drivers paying attention, no matter what you do.

This had been reported multiple times in multiple cases, the state seems firm that the left turn lane is not needed and if you need Broadway, there is a Broadway exit . So for now you still need to drive through the parking lot and come out the new exit built from the mall to get down to Broadway or do what everyone else does, just turn left and hope you don't get caught, well then again it is Bangor and they lack a bit of daytime patrolling. This was more of the States choice when the ramp was built.
