Description
Going south on Clarksville Pike, between W. Hamilton Road and Trinity Lane, there is no stop light. Cars speed from W. Hamilton to the Trinity Lane light. There is a housing community for women and children at the corner of Ashton where the mother's frequently catch the bus. They have to cross Clarksville Pike, dodging traffic, to get to the bus stop on the oppositie side of the street. It's only a matter a time before a mother and her baby get run over by these speeding cars. There's needs to be a traffic light installed at Ashton Avenue so that mothers and their children can cross safely.

Public Works has not initiated any kind of traffic study and women continue to cross Clarksville Pike with toddlers and babies in strollers to get to the bus stop. A traffic light needs to be installed before something tragic happens. Why is this taking so long?

There are certain specifications that have to be met according to the Traffic & Parking Code for signals to be installed. After a study at this location it was determined that a traffic signal is not warranted. However, the installed “ Pedestrian" Warning signs are intended to warn all drivers of the potential for pedestrian crossings, and to increase the safety at or near this intersection and nearby area. They are of the type “ Fluorescent Yellow – Green “ background that are highly visible at all times.

I am confident that when news of a woman, her toddler, a baby in stroller or other pedestrian trying to cross the street from Zack's market/gas station to get to the bus stop on the other side of the street, in front of a school, in a school zone, are mowed down by speeding motorist who don't observe speed limits (so what makes you think they will observe a metal sign), it will become easier to figure out how to adjust the 'specifications' to ensure pedestrian safety. The distance between stop lights is too great. No one should have to dodge cars trying to cross a street to get to a bus stop. There needs to be a stop light as the only place to cross is either at the Trinity Lane/Beuna Vista light or all the way back down to W. Hamilton.
Thank you for responding. Follow your 'specifications' and hopefully no one is killed trying to catch a bus.

where many people turn left at the corner for the YMCA and there may need to
be one at entrance to the Renewal House (yellow building) on Clarksville Highway
because there are a lot of mothers like this one trying to get a better handle on
their lives and they need help and it is scary, I should know my family member
lived near there not long ago, and I noticed it was hard crossing the street in
that area and that area goes unnoticed.

work cut out for me with CSX Railroad, My mom worked for 30 years, only to live out the rest of
her days listening to a darn train wrecking her nerves. Her house is not solid concrete and somedays
I have ran from one room to another. The noise ordinance is old and needs to be revised to accommodate the growing population and demands of many areas such as industrial, traffic,
commercial, garbage trucks, and the government should provide options to bring about solutions
and genuine concern for people and their communities, cause they want you to vote, but until
then they sit in their offices and bother to contact any of the people. If they don't I won't vote.

I have been in that area and she has to run across the four lanes and watch for cars at the top of
that hill that that runs Trinity Lane to the YMCA there is a hill, which if on foot you can't see over, and that is what makes you most vulnerable. All in all she has to keep a cool head, or things can go bad
quickly.
