There are two left turn lanes at this intersection. The far left lane is to get back on Rt 1 South and the middle lane is to get on 476 North. Vehicles in the left lane cross into the centerlane in the turn. New signs or markings are needed. This happens every day and some tractor-trailers will totally cut you off in the turn.

Maybe you're misinterpreting the lanes. I've always thought that the two left lanes were both for turning onto the approach to 476. Why would they dedicate an entire lane to those few who want to do a u-turn back to Rte 1 south?

You are correct. The two left lanes are for 476N. The problem occurs when in the turn. The vehicles in the left lane cross into the right lane as soon as they realize that they have to be in that lane to get on 476N. Vehicles in the right lane can't see their turn signals when they are along side of you.
