The Constitution does not give the N&O the right o throw trash on my property without my permission. By the same logic I could throw trash on your home attached to a "Constitution-Protected" newsletter.

Please get them to pick up the trash they've left all over the neighborhood and require them to get permission before they throw more trash on private property.

Thanks for your opinion, but you are wrong and the city has no authority to regulate the news media. As previously suggested, your issue is with the N&O and not the City. Your example of a newsletter is not equivalent to a city regulating the media. Sorry that you disagree.

City of Raleigh 3, your response is emotional and inappropriate, including erasing the votes people had already made for this issue.

This is a concern of the people who live here and should be allowed to stay open for others to comment and for action by the city.

I request that this be reviewed by another city official for a more reasonable response.

On legal advice, we are informed that the City does not have the authority to regulate distribution of the media. Note that a user guest has closed this issue, not the City. You can reach the N&O to voice your concerns about litter at 919-829-4500. SeeClickFix is best utilized to report issues the City is able to resolve and is not best utilized as a social commentary platform. Thanks.

I think the city official is being more than patient considering that you've been told that the law prevents them from doing anything about it, and yet you keep reopening the case - thereby preventing the city official from dealing with issues that CAN be addressed. If you don't like the law, petition your city councilperson through the appropriate venue or, as was suggested, contact N&O and ask them to stop placing them at your home - which I did, and guess what? They did.

If you think this issue being open has immobilized the city, then I expect you are very familiar with people being "more than patient" with you.

There's immobilizing the city and then there's what *I* said, which is that you're wasting this city official's time, which would be better served on issues that can actually be addressed. The midtown news is a hassle, and a nuisance, however, I found that the quickest (quicker than posting on here) and most effective (more effective than a verbal tirade to the city that can't solve the problem, by law) was to call the N & O and request they not deliver to my home. The papers stopped arriving immediately. Imagine that.

Pretty sad that Raleigh PD can't enforce a simple littering ordinance. I'll be throwing my trash on the steps of city hall with "media stories" enclosed (my dog should be able to write similar quality editorials).

I am also quite frustrated that there are probably hundreds of rotting sacks of paper pulp on each run I do through my neighborhood. Want to know who is out of town? Just look for the house that hasn't been able to clean up the mess.

I filled out a form on the N&O customer service page, but what good is it for one or two people on a street to complain when debris is strewn over many other addresses? It would be best for the N&O to stop everything and let people opt-in to their advertisements.
