Description
Since the upgrade on this intersection, pedestrian signals do not allow crossing without hitting the button. This means that we frequently approach the intersection just as the light changes and cannot cross despite it being safe and having plenty of time to do so. There's a lot of temptation to cross anyway, but motorists feel free to make right turns (without being careful) when the hand is red, creating a dangerous situation. There's no reason to not always allow pedestrian crossing when the light is green. It is less confusing and safer.
