The City does not pay for this service. It is paid for by a private citizen.

The fact that this is paid for by a private citizen still does not make it OK to blast their music just because THEY like it. This is an infringement on people's rights and City Codes: I refer to (Ord. No. 16915, 5-20-82; Ord. No. 17448, [[section]] 1, 4-28-87)Sec. 293.07. Radios, paging systems, etc.

No person shall use, operate or permit the use or operation of any radio receiving set, musical instrument, phonograph, tape recorder, paging system, machine or other device for the production or reproduction of sound in a distinctly and loudly audible manner as to unreasonably disturb the peace, quiet and comfort of any person nearby. Operation of any such set, instrument, phonograph, machine or other device between the hours of l0:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. in such a manner as to be plainly audible at the property line of a structure or building in which it is located, in the hallway or apartment adjacent, or at a distance of fifty (50) feet if the source is located outside a structure or building, shall be prima facie evidence of a violation of this section.

(a) Responsibility of enforcement. The primary responsibility of enforcing the provisions of sections 293.02 through 293.08 shall be with the police department. The primary responsibility of enforcing the provisions of section 293.09 shall be with the division.

This is the official Parks and Recreation Department account. As referenced in the pioneer press article: http://www.twincities.com/ci_19685622 the timer/control box can sometimes be thrown off by power outages or snow/cold weather. You can contact our customer service staff at: ParksCustomerService@ci.stpaul.mn.us to report that the timer/control box has been thrown off in the future. We have notified our maintenance crew that the timer may again be off, so they should check it by the end of the week.

I HAVE notified the Parks Dept at the Customer Service line. More than once a month for the past 3 yrs.!!! When I reminded them it was not just the timer being the problem but the music itself and wished it to be turned down or OFF the person I talked to said it would be turned off. Someone called a left me a message about now they went to the park & measured the decibles of the muzac & how it did not exceed the "allowable decibles". In short, nothing has changed. Why can't SOMEONE please give an answer to why this must be on in the first place when it clearly bothers more than one resident of the neighborhood? DClearly City Hall & the Parks Dept care more about attracting the "bar crowd from the 'burbs" to the area than retaining or attarcting mature professionals to the neighborhood that won't be found urinating on Wacouta St or yelling at the top of their lungs at 2:00 am as they leave The Bulldog or wait for the bus on 5th St.ragtop

Seriously. WHY do we have to be forced to listen to this anyway? Not everyone has the same musical tastes. And as far as being a "criminal deterrant", the purse snatchers & drug dealers & loudmouthed drunks are oblivious to its existance.- Turn it off already. Are you listening Dave Thune?

Timer has been reset

What about the volume? It's still too loud!! And it's the same music over & over & over....Come on!!! I have to shut my windows on these beautiful but sometimes hot days. This is ridiculous.
