Your title is WABA Trail Ranger so I thought you might know who is responsible for clearing the ice and snow from the new foot and bike bridge at the RI Metro Station? I submitted a service request (Service Request ID:
15-00003952) and sent a few emails before it was sort of cleared.
Hi Mike,
As of 9AM Friday morning, a decent path has been shoveled across the bridge. Since it opened about a week ago, I am not certain whether it is WMATA or DDOT that is responsible for clearing the bridge, but my guess is DDOT (also responsible for the excellent trail plowing job!). I'll let you know when I find an answer.
An update for you Mike,
DDOT is indeed responsible for clearing the bridge. They learned on Tuesday that their Bobcat, used to plow and mow the trail, is just slightly too long to make the turn onto the bridge with the plow attachment's extra length. As I understand it, they tied every possible approach to get the thing on the ramp. They are looking at some other options and equipment they have on hand. Things should be better next time. Definitely still report icy conditions if you see them.
