When this exit was built back in 2000, it was with the understanding that it was for mall traffic, to keep people from taking the broadway exit and clogging up stillwater ave and hogan road.
Get over it, if you need to access the residential areas of stillwater ave, take the broadway exit, thats why its there.
The way that the lights cycle it would be perfectly safe and logical to do, i watch many people turn anyway because there are no other lanes moving or turning that would conflict with a left turn
This creates a problem since drivers will do a hazardous U-turn in the Kohl's shopping plaza because they cannot turn left at the light. Since no other traffic has a green light when the I-95 off ramp has a green, there is no reason they shouldn't allow a left turn.
Coming from the East when getting off the ramp one assumes that making a left would be the logical thing to do. It would not be a big problem to recalibrate the light. Plus save a lot of grief for out of town visitors who want to stay in that part of town. By the way, this is an awesome web site. Who came up with this idea? We need it in Ellsworth!
I agree,if I get caught in the gridlock of the Kohls shopping plasa this Christmas season because you cant turn left off the interstate im going to be very upset as will alot of others
This has become Bangor's most important lifeline intersection with traffic coming from the south and east. It behooves the City to address it because people like myself coming from the east get dumped there. And many of us don't go there if the traffic even feels like it's backed up. C'mon Bangor...please take care of this intersection...
