Obviously no one who planned out the library, gave a darn about the handicapped! They put the handicapped parking in the lot at the far end of the library, the farthest one could walk and still be on the block!! What is wrong with these people?
When someone complained to them about it they said it was too expensive to do. Too expensive? Then don't build the library in the first place if you can't abide by Federal law, not to mention compassion.
For a handicapped person, walking to the parking lot with heavy books, especially in bad weather is a burden. Parking in front would make sense but after a request was put in, the town put up a sign saying it was a drop off section and there was no parking. Of course people still park there and how many cars do they think are dropping off at one time? It's a cheap shot at avoiding accountability. SHAME ON SAUGERTIES GOVT!

I JUST FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES PETITIONING FOR A HANDICAPPED SPOT OR TWO DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE LIBRARY ENTRANCE. PLEASE CAN YOU JOIN ME IN THIS REASONABLE REQUEST? JUST SEND A BRIEF DIRECT LETTER TO:
U.S. Department of Justice
950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Civil Rights Division
Disability Rights - NYAVE
Washington, D.C. 20530
PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO DO THIS FOR THOSE HANDICAPPED PEOPLE WHO NEED TO BE CLOSER TO THE ENTRANCE THAN THE DISTANT PARKING LOT, ESPECIALLY IN BAD WEATHER.
THANK YOU.
