I just damaged a tire driving over this horrific pothole on Tuesday and then again on Thursday. Finally at least it now has a cone marking it. This is now the second tire I have ended up having to replace because of an unrelated pothole in this area. I will be filing a claim ..as I did last time. And per the last time, I will exercise my right to collect for the monetary damage this caused me. This pothole is bad enough that it was not suddenly a problem when the rains came; it was already bad and the rains just made it far worse. It is more costly to the city NOT to repair these particularly bad potholes than it is to repair them because of such claims.

The City of Oakland Public Works Department has received this issue. It is registered as service request # 556928. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Apparently the 2 times I fell into this hole damaged both of my front tires. With the required alignment, bill was almost $400. This pothole did not suddenly appear when the rain started but the rain certainly made it worse.

These need to be called in to the call center. Do not call them potholes they are beyond that calling them potholes on SCF just gets you shuffled into the we do have any money to fix them box. These are very hazardous road conditions. Do not call them pot holes. Bill the City of Oakland I am not sure of the process I am sure you find it on line.

Also the people reviewing SCF just look the title such as pothole. They do not take into account the level or gravity of the issue. On these huge hazardous craters street condition other than pothole and and describe it in detail both to the call center and on SCF. Squeaky Wheel.

...Now that I've spent over $300 to replace both front tires and do the required alignment. Repeatedly, we see these potholes fixed when people complain about them and report them. All last year I personally witnessed that. A lot of stuff goes unaddressed because few take the time to say something. Period.
