The address 1443 is a private home on the West Side of MLK... I think the reporter 'Karl Nurse' being a city official should know better and actually Name the Store in Question. The two locations that the 'locals' gather to drink, smoke, sell & chat are; the North side of the Quickie Store and the South side of the Metro PCS store. Both of these establishments are located on the 'East' side of the street at the corner of 15th Avenue South and MLK. Since I live near there... I can say that the locals have been gathering at that spot since 1999.

If the city wants to see REAL Illegal Drinking on the sidewalks, in cars right in front of the police... Why don't you all come to that 'Exact' location around 4pm on Monday, MLK Day and get a real eye opener?

This is a follow-up to the SeeClickFix email that was sent on 12/15/14, reference to subjects hanging out and drinking on the property, Quikie Store. Patrol officers patrol the area daily enforcing any criminal violations. The Community Service Officers have educated the subjects in the past regarding drinking and loitering on the property. Councilman Karl Nurse along with Sgt Hordge have also met with the owner of the property to express the concern of this ongoing issue of loitering and drinking on the property. The next phase of action is enforcement. Community Service officers are planning an operation in the future to provide some relief for the citizens that live in the neighborhood.

If you wish, I can send daily photos of groups of 10 or more continuing the practice cited above... HOWEVER... Since this gathering and drinking seems to be a social cultural behavior of the locals who 'live' in the area... No one seems to want to correct this imbalance of the social group. Let me know if 'Anyone' in 'Any' Saint Pete agency actually wants to do anything about this situation.

Please refer to the above posted message from Assistant Chief Williams - enforcement would require notification being made to the SPPD by calling 727-893-7780 when violations are witnessed so that officers may respond and address the situation.
