There are very few playgrounds available to kids in Ditmas Park, Midwood, parts of Kensington, and Prospect Park South. Some people already literally walk 15 minutes to get to this, their closest playground. You can't ask parents to walk 25 minutes to get to a playground or park. You've got to fix this one ASAP!

The damage goes beyond just the fence. A bench was destroyed and the slide damaged -- with potential structural damage to the overall structure as well. This lot is an oasis for young children in the neighborhood and the only play space within a reasonable distance of home for many, many families. I hope that it is repaired very quickly. Even with winter approaching, this space is needed more than ever as long walks to other play spots (like Prospect Park) will quickly become even more daunting than they already are.

The Brooklyn Borough Parks Commissioner has assured us that he will take expeditious action so that the Tot Lot will be safe to play in again.

This Tot Lot is the only space within a mile of our houses for many of our children to play safely outdoors. The school Playgrounds are closed to us during the school day and there is very little public green space in our community. Please prioritize repairing the fence and making this a safe space once again!

I am wondering if there is something that could be done during the repairs that would prevent cars from crashing into the playground. Although this is an isolated incident, we would not want to take any chances.
