This is at least the 3rd time this issue has been reported with no action taken, not even a noticable police patrol. Can we at least get a patrol car there during rush hour to write some citations??

This problem gets worse every day. I almost had an accident 3-18-2015 due to an SUV forcing themselves into traffic my making a 3rd turn lane. HPD needs to be monitoring this issue during peak evening rush hour. I've never had an accident, but this turn lane problem will probably be my first one ever. CJ

THANK YOU, THANK YOU HPD!!! On 3-24-15 HPD was issuing citations to Violators that are forcing the 3rd turn lane. Way to go HPD, thanks for BUSTING all the idiots that think they shouldn't have to wait their turn like the rest of us. I hope HPD can find time to do this again, and I hope I'm pumping gas so I can get a good laugh at the Idiots who think they've done nothing wrong by creating a 3rd turn lane when the road clearly indicates only 2 (that's TWO) turn lanes.

On 12-10-2014 it shows this traffic issue was forwarded to ALDOT. This issue needs to stay open until Engineers come up with a Fix for this traffic signal. Besides accident potential, I watch Road Rage happen every day here. I know that HPD cannot sit and bust the violators every day so this needs to remain in an Open Status until a permanent fix can be found by ALDOT.

The Traffic Services Division of HPD is continuing to watch this intersection and has received some positive comments from citizens that the traffic problem is much improved now. Your observation on “road rage” at this intersection is identical to comments from citizens at dozens of intersections daily throughout Huntsville. These usually come from a combination of temporary time-related traffic congestion and a relatively new traffic control device or altered speed zone. By Traffic Services Officers continuing to monitor this intersection we will determine the best cause of action to remedy the problem and forward that recommendation to either Hsv Traffic Engineering who manages the light control system or ALDOT who manages the roadway engineering and design.

So far, we have altered the timing of the traffic lights and changed the roadway signs and lane usage to help and most people agree this has helped. As far as a total solution to make all roadway travelers happy, we are still working on meeting the unique needs of this intersection. Thanks for helping with your comments and suggestions.

Thanks for taking action on this. Although the cycle changes have helped and certainly the patrols are effective, we need a long term solution.
