over a year ago there have been a number of really bad accidents @ the intersection of 3rd & division. Drivers heading south on 3rd st. had no stop sign. Drivers come off division had a stop sign. All lot of drivers still do not stop, but yield. After all the bickering with the city of Troy how bad this intersection, the city installed a stop sign @ this intersection. Now there is a stop sign on both 3rd st. and division st. When the signs first went up the attached orange flags to the signs to alert drivers that a new stop sign is in place. Guess what most drivers still don't stop. They either go through the stop sign or better yet try a suicidal run at it. STOP MEANS STOP, NOT GO.

I can see why this sop sign is needed but I think a better solution would be to improve site distance. I have accidentally gone through this stop at night when there are trucks or vans blocking both stop signs. In the rain you can't even see the stop bars.
Parking should be changed in this area in addition to the stop since stopping at each intersection is counterintuitive on Route 4.

Larwence, you must still be lamenting the highway that was never built through this neighborhood (THE FLOW! THE FLOW!).
You'd be the only one doing so.
I live downtown yet never seemed to notice that traffic gridlock is a MAJOR problem in downtown Troy.
Probably because it isn't.
Please give up your outdated Robert Moses traffic philosophy and try to embrace the idea that PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY tools that slow traffic, like this stop sign and curb bumpouts, are installed to intentionally CALM traffic - a newer outlook on traffic flow VS pedestrian safety than old Bob the Builder's was and it's one that...works!
