maybe they put the light there to scare away intruders.)

The intruders are unlikely to be the next door neighbors. Lights need to be pointed down, not into others' windows. Crime is up with the economic slowdown, but this new "solution" taking hold across New Haven, while well-intended, is not well executed in too many cases. It does take a little more thought and care in the lighting choice and installation, but it is important to quality of life on your block that you not have floodlighting shining into your neighbor's windows. If it seems like a non-issue, then consider paying for a spotlight to shine onto your own windows... suddenly a bad plan? Notify Pike, sure, but if that doesn't work, LCI can help.

Welcome to the new era in New haven of too many lights. There are city ordinances regarding direction of lighting, but no limitation on how long the light can remain on. I have had sucess in going directly to the owner/source and working out a compromise- theres always light blocking curtains if all else fails.

To John Q.P. - I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels that there are other alternatives to problems.
