The crosswalk between the southeast and southwest corner shows "don't walk" during the part of the traffic cycle where the only vehicle traffic is eastbound (going straight or turning north with a green arrow). Because this vehicle traffic does not cross the crosswalk, the crosswalk should show a "walk" signal.

I have been in contact with a city traffic engineer and she confirmed that this analysis is correct. The problem is due to outdated signal hardware, which needs to make it into the queue for replacement with modern hardware that can do the proper signal timing.

As it stands now, it is a safety hazard because it encourages jaywalking.
