Wasn’t there a recent pedestrian fatality at this location?

The crosswalk signs do not say that it is the state law to stop when people are in the crosswalk. Also, it should be one of those signs that lights up that you can push a button because it’s very close to the high school and the lines should be re-drawn for the crosswalk so people can see it I walk almost every morning and no one ever stops and unfortunately I knew someone was killed at that corner of parliament in Vermack in Olde Village Run last year the year before. I also recommend that the crosswalk and Womack by the gated community has those lights as well. It’s in between two schools and no one ever stops.

Thank you for following up about this intersection. Yielding for pedestrians is the law at all crosswalks in Georgia. Unfortunately, it has been shown that putting those signs up at intermittent locations leads some drivers to think that it's only the law where those signs are installed. Our intention is to make comprehensive improvements to the entire corridor to enhance safety throughout the area. We are planning improvements to this crossing as part of a future sidewalk project on Vermack. Flashing lights would be helpful and relining with reflectors sooner than later at least for repainting would be much safer. Its been a year since the previous person posted and feel like that is a very long time when it should be a quick fix even if only temporary

Maybe some monitoring by local law enforcement would help spread the word

Please still repaint the lines and add the flashing lights option when someone is crossing- really the cross walk lines need to be repainted all over dunwoody especially off vermack and womakc roads so cars can actually see that there is a crosswalk. Cars rarely stop at the above redirected intersection and its very dangerous

Following up- can someone please respond I walked this the other day and at least eight cars passed and none stopped. it is very dangerous and for the last two years, nothing has been done to help make this a safer crossing
