Every morning and afternoon!

I absolutely AGREE; however, one has to consider that those doing it are the "important" people, who shouldn't really have to wait. Those of us who move into the correct lanes and actually (I can't believe I'm saying this....) Wait our TURN!! (gasp) should just move off to the side and allow these "important people" the right of way! I used to think "Well, maybe they're not from around here and they don't KNOW"....that was until I saw five different episodes of the would be "important person" suddenly moving into the CORRECT lane, once he spotted a cruiser patrol car coming out of the Pizza Hut Parking lot. That jogged the would be "important person's" memory. I carry a sign in my truck which I've no problem holding up to these drivers. It say's "I'm TERRIBLY sorry...I didn't REALIZE it was YOU!!!"

I'd like to add something to this conversation. I am one of those who drive up the right lane past all of the people waiting in line in the left lane. However I am turning right onto Lampost, entering into the neighborhood to go home. Every once in a while someone seeing me come up the right lane will have an issue with this and will attempt to cut me off. This in turn on more than one occasion has forced me into the curb otherwise I would have slammed into their passenger door. Once I was forced up onto the sidewalk. Imagine if a pedestrian had been walking past at the time. So before you become all vigilante and start cutting people off, realize there are two right-lane turnoffs and someone may actually be turning right, not making you 1.2 seconds later than you would have been had they not cut in line ahead.

Bullpuky: You, my fine motorist friend are playing by the rules...and are obviously NOT one of the "important people" of whom I spoke in a previous posting. Welcome to the world of the compliant. That right lane was intended for right turning traffic...as you are apparently aware. From the available facts, I would deduce that some of the drivers, who have been waiting in the left lane, and have recently experiencing some 20 - 30 back-to-back episodes of an "important person" pulling along side in the right lane, then hitting the accelerator on 'Green", often accompanying this action with a "non-related" finger gesture, establishing their "important person" status, while at the same time, demonstrating their absolute apathy toward any of the other drivers' concerns regarding any alleged breach of this silly "non-important person" law...they may have misjudged your compliant intentions of actually turning right.

I like to be the first person in line on the left when this happens. I will match their acceleration and speed and force them to turn right or wait for an open spot behind me.

Astontibs, you obvously have no concern for the "important person". You don't realize that during the 1980's, while they were all attending "Assertiveness Training School" they were learning to live by the code of the ME generation: "Me First...get out of MY way...I'm the ONLY thing that matters, you insignificant SNIT!" Words they live by. Many of them have become politicians. ;-)
