Description

Hi. The intersection at eighth Street and Rhode Island Ave. is quite dangerous for pedestrians. With the opening of the O St. market there is a great deal more foot traffic than usual and people crossing Rhode Island at this intersection. There is a crosswalk, however with many drivers using Rhode Island Ave. to get out to Maryland, drivers are not familiar with (or possibly dismissive of) DC pedestrian right-of-way laws. It is a simple fix but what is needed are some of the neon yellow pedestrian signs that are currently on 14 street in the crosswalk at this intersection. It would slow traffic tremendously and protect neighborhood pedestrians greatly.
