Description
trail blocked is the one that runs parallel to Park Road in Hamden: if you enter the park via the trail that starts at Park Road, and then turn left when you get to the trail that runs North-South, then it is just a little way to the blockage. Hopefully the Parks Dept. can fix this

Hello ke51n,
Just a heads up, when you reported this issue, you created your own Request Category (Downed Tree blocking trail in East Rock Park ) instead of selecting from one of the Request Category templates created by our town's officials.
When a reporter creates their own Request Category, the issue does not appear in the queue of any of our town's officials. Rather, the issue is merely visible to residents who have SeeClickFix accounts that notify them when an issue is reported in their neighborhoods.
That's why this issue is submitted to "Community".
If you would like our town's officials to see your reported issue, you need to report it again and be sure to select one of the Request Category templates. Don't create your own.
I hope this information helps.

ke51n,
Glad I could help. By the way, I saw your other report (https://seeclickfix.com/issues/13419137-parks-request).
When you selected an address, you selected the New Haven side of East Rock Park. That reported issue is assigned to New Haven instead of Hamden, so none of Hamden's officials can see it in their SeeClickFix queue.
I hope this information helps.

however, while the park is located in part in Hamden and part in New Haven, the entire park is owned by New Haven, and it is the New Haven Parks Department's responsibility. Their headquarters is in the part of the park located in Hamden

ke51n,
I just read that article. It looks like our parks might get a bit of a restoration. Personally, I'd love to see benches installed in the places where the city took them away.
Did you know benches were removed simply because homeless people were sitting there? How can a park be called a park when there is nowhere to park your butt?

those in charge often can't leave well enough alone, they just make things worse (or gone, like the benches)
that's why I am a little uneasy about the new funding
some years back the Parks Dept removed some small trees at the summit at the edge of the cliff facing the city, where they provided a bit of shade and helped prevent erosion

I hope this information helps.

I found an archived response stating that this has been fixed. THAT IS IN ERROR. The downed tree is still there as of May 1, 2024.
