The DPW is currently working to rehabilitate the picnic table.

I so remember the days when a lot of Town Employees did a lot of 'volunteering' in Parades, Charity Work...etc. out of Pride and 'Thanks' for a nice Government, 20 year retirement, 85 % health Insurance, taxpayers 'beefing up' their pensions each year; parking, air conditioning in the offices, benefits, limited supervision, and more....Thank God for the firemen 'wanting' to march and 'remember' the Freedom and the 'Cost' of it to have these Government Benefits... and we have rotting stairs, picnic tables, rusty fences, potholes of record numbers, We have a 'new' TOWN PLANNER"... who maybe could fit into her time a look at Lower Pomeworth ?.. Give 'US' the Cost Estimate ....and we'll take some wonderful 'Class of '82 people to show you all what Community spirit and love is all about...Some of these 'responses' go back over a year reading 'WE are 'taking care of it... What is 'It ?".........

Mr. Pignone I take offense to your comment. I am a Town employee and proud of it. I work 40 hours a week doing manual labor this time of year and depending on how severe a winter possibly 60 or more hours! I do my job to the best of my ability and I have to do this work for 32 years for a full pension. I may work 24 hours straight, it may be 95 degrees out, it may be below zero, it could be down pours I r a blizzard, but mark my words the DPW is out there. We will sand and plow your streets, clear your backed up sewer, cut the ballfields and what ever job that Iis asked of us. We get no dental or eye benefits and yes we have the GIC insurance. After 18 years of manual labor I have back, shoulder, neck, knee, wrist, etc. I have earned my benefits. Thank you very much.

DPW...Kathleeen: is 'not' the dept. I am talking of and you well 'know it'.. It's the more 'comfy' ones...You should know by now, I have supported you and hard work all my life as well as the men and women who work out in these elements..DPW people do enough with a limited staff. Scratch this dept. from my comment, I should also apologize for not doing so.. I've attended a few 'February and March ' Water Breaks with brave people as yourself in those frozen holes.. God Bless. You also should know, it was 'I', who, during the 'First Week' I was a Selectman , made the Town Emploiyees receive the 'Master Medical' Insurance from 'Major Medical'.. and the Fire Dept. I also was successful in getting them a more reasonable 4 and 2 shifts than what they had that was 'back breaking' to them..I also moved the Election Day from Monday to Tuesday; and changed the voting month from March to April , as well as placed lights up from the MDC Pool to Marble so people could walk 'safely' at night and stroll; and more....The only thing we have to change and soon is this load on our taxpayers called the 'Defined Benefit' program which is going to place us out on the street soon. There are far better pension alternatives for you and others which will yield your overall family benefits much, much more...using other up to date vehicles...
