Opis

I live near the Library and like to take nice peaceful walks on the Perkiomen trail. To get to the trail I need to cross Main St. I go to one of the clearly marked crosswalks and stand with one foot in the street, waiting and waiting for someone to follow the PA law and stop for me. People only stop (to follow PA LAW requiring drivers to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk) rarely, less than 10% of the time and by the time I get to the Perkiomen trail I am filled with anger.
I have never seen police enforcing the pedestrian law, or enforcing the 25 MPH speed limit through town.

Agreed.... I've actually taken my lift in my hands and walked out purposely hold ing my hand in the "stop" position causing drivers to have to stop. I've been SCREAMED at for doing that. I've had drivers just blatently go when the yellow turns at 29/73 and I've still got the "walk" light nearly running me down. The borough IS working with the state trying to slow down traffic through that area but like anything it takes time and money neither the state or the borough has right now.

I am a daily pedestrian in Schwenksville. The speed of traffic is horrendous. I was once approached by a state trooper because he noticed that I was visibly upset and I explained to him how I almost got hit in this intersection. I've reported speed concerns to several troopers. Watch out for any yellow trucks from Trans-fleet concrete, and Indian Valley bulk carriers.

I must respond to bones comment. The trail intersection is poorly marked and dangerous. There is not enough signange VISIBLE for traffic that turns onto 73. I 've tried penndot because my local officials tell me it is a state road and then penndot tells me it's the boro's responsibility. There is no visible crosswalk at Perkiomen and Main st. and the hash mark for cars to stop is all but invisble. We had ample funds to rechange road lines and hire a firm to take pictures of historical properties, but we have no $$ for pedestrian walkways.
