Gosh, does the Ansonia Republican Town Committee have ANY legal council!?

Today, I received a glossy political piece in the mail which was produced by this committee. However, it is titled on the front page "Ansonia Sentinel"

GOSH, anyone who has any basic understanding of trademark law would remember that the trade names "Ansonia Evening Sentinel" and "Ansonia Sentinel" were privately owned and SOLD to the parent of the Connecticut Post.

While they closed the Sentinel and annoyed Ansonia residents for decades, that does not mean the name "Ansonia Sentinel" is not STILL part of the intellectual property that comes with the Connecticut Post, now owned by Hearst Corporation... a $4 billion media company.

So, the Ansonia RTC has just violated a Hearst Corporation copyright and will most likely get a cease and desist letter once they receive on of several e-mail with a photo of this mailing send to them today.

Pretty sure is was the "evening sentinel" Not the Ansonia evening sentinel. Also, if my memory serves me right- our town democratic committee has put out an "election sentinel" before every election- on newsprint.
If you want to be taken seriously, please raise a real issue.

I also received this mass mailing as well as many others.
Besides the fact of trying to GO GREEN and save a tree, I was curious to the fact to get the facts straight.
So I called my admin in Hartford moments ago to run it by our legal server via paid membership from our offices. SEE THE ATTACHED PIC FOR TRUE RESULTS.
Time for another Beer maybe….?

Ansonia has bigger fish to fry like cleaning up the mess the Farrel Corp across from the fire house and AB left behind. Then they could get recognized as a city.

Another issue/question: the GOP town committe can now post political propaganda pieces on the (intended) non-partisan city website? Really!!! Does that mean the Democratic aldermen can put together a flyer with their pics and have it posted on the city website? Can't wait to see the SEEC filing for the cost of this tree killer piece!

It is deplorable that the GOP would post their propaganda on the City of Ansonia’s website!!! If the Della Volpe administration had done this, Marini, Cassetti and others would have screamed from the highest mountain tops, demanding an explanation and condemning the administration. Now that the GOP is in power they disregard following proper procedure, in everything they do !
There is NO Surplus, it is called the Fund Balance and the GOP is Raiding it; after two years in office they or someone else will have to raise taxes. They have spent an exorbitant amount of money with No plan to replace the funds, how is this good for the City and why are residents happy with this administration. It is smoke and mirrors and in a year or two the residents of Ansonia will be paying for it via higher taxes, plain and simple, just wait.

The fact that the GOP would post ANY partisan propaganda on the City of Ansonia's web site is unacceptable and may violate laws. The fact that the GOP has done a mass mailing using the name of the towns former newspapers (doesn't matter if it was "Ansonia Sentinel" or "Ansonia Evening Sentinel" most refer to it but by the former) it is made to look like official city news. The GOP nor the Democrats have the right to do either of the above.
