I have never sat at a light as long as I sit there waiting to make a left turn aspecially durring rush hour.

This intersection is so aggravating in so many ways. I simply look for cops and if I don't see any I make the turn as required. It appears Macomb County has too much money if they can afford to install all these expensive computer controlled intersections. It's government gone mad.

Also when proceeding East on15 mile Rd the left turn light at Garfield allows too little time to make a left onto Garfield and you have to wait a full cycle to get to make that turn if you are one of the 3 cars at the front of the line you might squeak through. Maddening!
The timeing needs to be adjusted in all directions for a left turn!

I agree that this light is not working properly. If you are going West bound on 15, the East bound gets to go first and then the West bound. Why not have both go straight at the same time and allow a blinking yellow turn until the green arrow is lit. Same thing on North bound Garfield. The North and South are not timed the same and they should and allow the left turn to be blinking yellow until it turns green. I sit there a lot ot time in a left turn lane with no one coming but yet I can't turn because it is a red turn light. Please fix. This is very annoying

Mike, you have summed it up precisely ! What we have here is a government with TOO MUCH MONEY. These unnecessary electronic intersections are not only sucking up tax dollars, they are interfering with our ability to commute. Mark- Fraser

This intersection is like this because when the new lights were first put in there were too many accidents caused by people turning left on the blinking yellow into green light traffic from the other direction. So to eliminate the injuries and possible deaths from people who for some reason don't know what a blinking yellow light means, they eliminated it on this light. Who knows if they will reinstate the blinking yellow here, since the nearest new lights in every direction from 15 & Garfield work as intended with both blinking yellow and solid green. I have personally seen multiple people turn on blinking yellow and nearly cause accidents since for some reason they think they have the right of way, so I'm sure there have been accidents all over from this problem, but since traffic speeds are so high at this location, the accidents may have been worse than others and this is to protect us. I just make the left turn on red if there is no traffic in sight, especially late at night. It is annoying. Maybe when I get a ticket, I will subpoena the road commission to court to explain why I had to turn on red when I should have had a blinking yellow. (tongue in cheek, of course)

3:30 this afternoon 3/12/12 a terrible accident occurred at the intersection of 15 Mile and Garfield. If those involved are smart, they will sue the City of Fraser, and Macomb County. That traffic light operates like no other light in the state. The timing for turning and through traffic invites accidents. Do we have to wait until someone is killed??? Bureaucrats get off your fat a**es and do something!!! A death or serious injury will be on your shoulders forever. Don't tell me people have to learn...people do learn...they learn what you teach them at every other intersection!!! Open your eyes !!!

I have been behind a couple of people who turn left onto eastbound 15 mile on a solid red arrow. I guess it may be because they are treating it like a blinking red light when there's no on-coming northbound traffic or they are confusing as to the new lighting system. Also, I have been told that if you're not pulled up far enough for the traffic cam sensors to see your car, the light thinks there is no traffic there and may not change in a timely manner.

I believe the County operates the traffic signals, and this is the border of Clinton Twp and Fraser, on a County road.

Do these intersections have cameras on them that record the traffic? That would be helpful in identifying why these accidents are occurring.

couldn't haven't said it better myself i sit at that light every day and wait to make a left turn with no oncoming traffic , I'm surprised the business near there aren't complaining about the cut through traffic

This is so GD aggravating. There was a similar, albeit not so bad accident at Garfield and 14 recently. Yet 29 mile and North Avenue is one of the safest intersections in Macomb County and all it has is a blinking red light for both directions.

The cause of the accident at 15 and Garfield yesterday was distracted driving - the guy that caused the accident was looking for a cigarette.

This was not a traffic control problem.

Yep. Always a coverup somewhere! Couldn't just be some guy texting or dropping a cigarette.

I understand these lights take some getting used to - by drivers and the county getting it right.

The county monitors this website, and I'm sure they hear you loud and clear.

My main concern at this intersection is the number of students that are in that area after school.

You got that right, Steve!! I have 5 grandchildren going to Richards and the high school. Three of them are starting to drive. My heart jumps to my throat every time I hear a siren. Texting/talking on a cell phone should be banned in a moving vehicle. If you or that phone call are that important.....pull over to talk !!!! Pray for our children!

Thanks for the pictures Dennis. Obviously there is something wrong with the way people are driving through this intersection (whether it is being distracted or not obeying the signal). Until the accidents here stop, there will be no blinking yellow light during busy hours. Late at night is not as much of an issue since light changes quicker (but still not always quick enough with no traffic....).

I think what everyone wants with these new lights is some consistency. Its nice when they change quicker when there is no traffic, but they hold green much too long other times of the day. Then there are some lights (14 Mile Rd at Utica) that change to red much too quick not letting straight through traffic clear!

Good call T-boy. Consistency would be nice, until we can implement the true solution to intersection accidents.......round-a-bouts. I know a lot of people hate them, but the rest of the world loves them! I see nothing but advantages:
1)If there's an accident it's a sideswipe, not a T-bone.
2)Lives saved.
3)Energy savings, no electricity
4)Insurance costs go down
5)Improved mileage (no stopping and starting)
6)Reduced dependence on foreign oil
7)Lower gas prices(maybe)
8)Every one works the same way
