The town continues to do a less than half effort job on this road by quickly filling in these potholes. We all know this wont work in any situation. Pot holes are formed from the weather freezing and thawing and vice-versa. If the drainage wasnt a problem to begin with, the standing water on the road, which is visibile 24/7 365 days a year, this problem wouldnt even be here. Do it right the first time. Yes, its going to cost money, so did paving the "extra spaces" at the Ridgefield Recreation Center. And "yes" im sure there are more important issues facing our First Selectman such as which Resturant in town to dine at on a Friday night. People in this area of town are taxpayers too, and we would expect nothing less, then a person living in a 5000sqft McMansion on West Ln, which was actually just repaved recently. What a coincidence right?

This is a private road why would the town fix it?

this is getting ridiculous, whats going on ridgefield? when are you going to help us out in this area. stop filling them in and tear up and re-pave the road to save yourself the trouble and effort for the next 10 years. jesus.

Legal definition of a private road:

private road n. a road or driveway on privately-owned property, limited to the use of the owner or a group of owners who share the use and maintain the road without help from a government agency. A private road has not been given to a government entity (like a county or city) and accepted by that entity for public use.

Lakeside, cresent, clearview terrace and clearview drive
are all dangerous not just this year....for several years.
These roads present many dangers for drivers as well as
kids just walking them!!!
and stop with the private card you always deal...........and that you plow them as a favor....we pay taxes just like every other ridgefield citizen!!!

FIX THIS ROAD!

Please read Ridgefield Code 310-58 "Municipal Private Road Maintenance" (added 9-26-1990). It is on the Department of Public Services Highway Department website. This will provide you with the facts that determine how private roads are to be maintained by the Town of Ridgefield.

These were never Private Roads. Not a single deed on any of these roads indicate ownership by the homeowners. I have reviewed more than 200. Not a single deed shows a legal description that indicates ownership into the roadway. The original developer gave the deed to the town, and the town failed to record same. Given that the developer nor anyone has claimed ownership of the roads, by CT law, the property cedes back to the State, and hence is the property and responsibility of the municipality. I have raised this issue with the town and the First Selectman and the board on numerous occasions and dared them to prove me wrong. So I challenge you to prove me wrong. And now the town has agreed to a half as*ed solution of calling them Scenic Roads. The truth is hard to swallow, but it is clear for anyone who has the guts to look at it - - the government of Ridgefield, Democratic or Republican matters not at all, they serve the wealthy and could care less if the working class breaks an ankle or a an axle.
