Description
Dequindre from 696 service drive north to 12 mile is always a MESS both ways from 4 to 6 pm. It's a jurisdiction boundary, Macomb and Oakland fail to get on the same page. S/B from 12 mile, the first traffic light turns red causing a backup...then again at Solberg Towers with the double lights not in sequence. Then at 696, E/B service drive vehicles crowd into the s/b lanes as they wait to turn north on Dequnidre...until those cars move the S/B Dequindre traffic is forced to sit on a green light, as the north bound Dequindre traffic is bogged down from texters and the 11 mile light being out of sync. The next light n/b out of sync is at the marker on the map or close to it, and the 12 mile light...The universal mall exit at the north next to chase bank needs to be closed off...a lot of close calls there.

The fly in the ointment is how to respectfully honor and provide a safe, easily accessable and timely crosswalk for the senior citizens living in the Madison Solberg Towers.
Many citizens living at the Madison Solberg Towers use a hoveround electric mobility scooter or utilize other means that enhance mobility including a leader guide dog for the visually impaired.
The current traffic light at the Madison Solberg Towers has been positioned there for approximately 10 years. This allows citizens a safe, timely and direct crosswalk across Dequindre road from Madison Heights in Oakland County to Warren in Macomb County and visa-versa.
The progressive flow of vehicle traffic would improve on both north and south bound Dequindre road by physically repositioning several traffic lights and then synchronizing.
Possibly installing and maintaining a working electronic sensor to allow for a progressive non stop flow of vehicles while also providing a safe crosswalk only when needed for persons desiring to cross Dequindre from one City / County to the other.
