An email has been sent to the Township. Hopefully they will act quickly on this. The parapet is the solid "barrier" part along the edge of the roadway on either side of the bridge. It is similar to a crash barrier that you would see on the highway, and is typically an integral part of the bridge structure.

It looks like the parapet is currently being repaired to rectify the problem.
