I totally agree, there should be much more care taken when planting between the street and the sidewalk, this area is very busy with parents dropping off and picking up and students driving. Also residents should be required to trim their plants that overhang the sidewalk. There are many sago palms (which are poisonous) that hit the unwary pedestrian.

since we can not count on property owners to use common sense or lack awareness how about the city pass a city ordinance that has a no more than 3 ft height at least within 20 ft from the corner, unless it plans to be a tree and the underneath is trimmed back for easy view. Also ivy needs to be maintained from cluttering up the trunk and then creating an obstructed view. And the same applies to the esplanade in the 600 & 700 block of RIchmond . No one maintains them. ever and it is a waste of city funds to send someone out to do so. They are not even pretty

sounds like a great idea, enforcing maybe a bit more difficult. Of course if any such city ordinance permits pedestrians to chop whatever bars their way that may be better.
