Description
When traveling northbound and southbound it takes a considerably long amount of time for the lights to change from red to green. Eventually, once the lights change they only stay green for approx 30 seconds which only allows very few vehicles to pass through the intersection. It is extremely difficult turning left in this intersection because of how busy it is due to traffic build up when the light is red.
One possible solution to this problem would be to allow the northbound and southbound lights to stay green for a longer duration during busy times of the day such as early mornings and evenings.
Another MAJOR solution would be to install advance turn signals allowing drivers turning left to proceed early which would reduce the quantity of vehicles waiting to turn.
Overall, I know it will be tough to address this problem because the city is focusing on the efficiency of 68th ave but sometimes it is extremely painful waiting for the light to cycle twice or three times to pass through the intersection.
Thanks in advance.

Overall the lights are timed at peak hours to give a proportionate amount of time to each leg of the intersection based on traffic volumes, with hte majority of the time still allocated to the heavy north south volumes.

The length of wait for signals coming out of the subdivision was done intentionally to improve traffic flow on the heavy volumes of eastbound/westbound traffic during the am and pm peak.
