Description
With all of the infrastructure development and planning the volume and speed of traffic from I-5 and up NE 148th St has been steadily increasing. Large, loud, heavy and frequent construction vehicles as well as commuter traffic have become increasingly frequent and fast on our street. Looking at the long range plans for the neighborhood, I would like to request a feasibility study of the intersections on 6th Ave Ne between 145th St NE and 155th St NE for installation of planted round-a-bouts to slow and curb non-residential traffic between 5th Ave NE and 8th Ave NE, I-5 and the planned rail and transit stations. As a lifetime resident of the home located at 515 NE 148 St, I have personally witnessed the increased traffic, panicked commuters and reckless driving on our little stretch of street. I feel endangered daily and there have been increased incidences of dead wildlife flattened in the road in front of my home.
There is an immediate need for some sort of additional traffic controlling measures on NE 148th St between 5th Ave NE and 6th Ave NE. Considering the imminent population density, zoning and infrastructure changes I believe planning the same type of traffic controlling measure (whether it be round-a-bouts or some other signage/speed-bump etc) at each of the intersections on 6th Ave NE between 5th Ave Ne to the west and 8th Ave NE to the east, and between 145th St NE to the south and 155th St NE to the north is warranted.
